Defining our Household at the Capital

Let us define the staff and determine the plans of our villa here.

This is a bit overdue, so I figured I might as well plunge in first to get the ball rolling. Here are some proposed additions. Comments and/or objections are both welcome.

Household Staff

Haruko - House Mistress and Midwife

Manages the staff and organisation of the household (salaries, accounting, aquiring supplies, list tasks to be accomplished such as repairs to the roof etc. etc.). Retired Geisha, so one of he duties is to act as host to guests while we are away on business. Also acts as an accomplished Midwife and Nanny. We lend her to other households if they need a midwife in case of emergency. Her other duty is to keep us abreast of the happenings in the rich quarter of the city via her former contacts with the geisha Houses and her current contacts with the other House Mistresses in the area.


Taysuke - Masseur

This blind old man is constantly shaking with Parkinson's, but when performing his duties as a masseurs his hands become steady and sure.


Taki - Apprentice Masseur and Errand Boy

Taki is Tysuke's son, and about 15 years old. He is a devout youth, spend hours in worship of his Ancestors. When not activly spending time learning the Art of Massaging, Taki is drafted as an errand boy by the Haruko the House Mistress.


Masanobu - Gardner, Doorman and Handyman

His duties consists in tending the grounds and answering the gate when visitors arrive. He must maintain the Bamboo Forest, the various gardens, the Zen Garden and all outer pavillions. When Kitsu Hajime is away from Toshi Ranbo (the new Capital of Rokugan), it is Masanobu who must maintain the Temple to the Ancestors. Masanobu also has some talents as a handyman and is frequently asked to accomplish minor repairs and improvements around the household. When major landsacping project are underway, it is Masanobu who directs the work crews.


Tetsui - Cook

Skillful cook, with a speciality in the Phoenix culinary arts. A very shy person who is almost never seen outside the kitchen or the servant's pavillion. Sometimes seen wandering the gardens at night, especially when the moon is full and the sky is clear.


Nozomi - Maid

Petite peasant maid, but with good manners. Main task is to keep the houshold tidy, but will also assist Tetsui and serve food during meal time.

Operational Staff

The following retainers assist us in accomplishing our duties twoards Akodo Kenji.


Yujiro - Aide de Camp and Secretary

Yujiro literally 'holds the fort' for our team. He takes care of paperwork and legal aspect of our work. He also keeps a keen ear on the criminal undeground in Toshi Ranbo, as he always seems to have the lowdown on the latest happenings. Some say he has contacts with criminal gangs. When we are away, he delivers and manages messages sent via carrier pigeons. He is also responsible for security on the household grounds.


Aritomo, Denbe and Hiro - Yojimbo

These three ronin yojimbo have been hired to secure the villa from intruders. They usually work in 8 hour shifts, but this can vary. Often they will have to pull long hours during particular ocassions, such as when we are receving guests. They are under Yujiro's direct command.


Seibei - Eta Torturer

This 'contract' worker is called in for 'special' jobs... He always wears a smile on his face and seems like a jovial person. When the mood is dark, he will always manage to lighten it up with a good joke.

Facilities

The following buildings are part of our complex:

The Main Villa: This is where we live and sleep while in Toshi Ranbo. The House Mistress and Maid reside here as well.

The Temple Pavillion: Also serve as a meditation area and Tea Ceremony pavillion. The zen garden is located adjacent. This pavillion is open all day and night for those who would worship their Ancestors or the Kami.

A Bathhouse: Includes a massage den and beauty palor. Near the gardens.

The Administrative Pavillion: This is where we do our business and that official records are kept. This buiding is in stone, for a higher level of security, and to protect against fires. The Pigeon Coop is located on the rooftop. This is where the Operational Staff resides.

The Servant's Pavillion: This is where the Houshold servants sleep, excelpt for the House Mistress and Maid.

The Bamboo Forest: Used as a training ground. This is our outdoor dojo, and it is supervised by Daidoji Murai.
